Holika Holika Peach Girl BB Cream (no 1) Review

Sooo. I'm not sure how useful this review actually is, since this shade has been (woefully) discontinued in Korea. Regardless, I thought I would take the time to write it up as a display of affection for what was my favorite BB cream... :'(

Where to get it: No-one stocks it anymore. ;_;

Description: Holika Holika Peach Girl BB Cream rejuvenates a bubbly skin tone with vivid peach color. Provides natural make up coverage and protects against harmful UV rays. Peach Extract helps to heal and prevent acne and blemishes. Comes with a cheek/lip blush inside the cap, and a mirror on the lid. A very convenience design for one-step make-up. (from prettyandcute.com)

Claims:
comes with cheek/lip color + little mirror
 natural looking coverage
moderately high broad spectrum UV protection
 helps heal and prevent acne
 two shades (1 and 2)

Ingredients: Water,Cyclopentasiloxane,Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Cyclohexasiloxane,Butylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Zinc Oxide (CI 77947), Glycerin,Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Neopentyl Glycol Diethylhexanoate, Sodium Chloride, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone, Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Cetyl Dimethicone, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Stearic Acid,Iron Oxides (CI 77499), Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin,Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Fragrance(Parfum), Propylparaben,Tocopheryl Acetate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Disodium EDTA, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Fruit Extract, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben

Packaging: Cute but not, like... cute. It's a nice peachy shade of pink that looks nice on the counter, but nothing comparable to Tony Moly or Etude House stuff. There is no pump- it's just a squeeze tube. The opening can get a little messy, but not as bad as Skinfood's Red Bean BB cream~

The cheek/lip color is cute, just a little thing at the top of the cap. It snaps shut so you don't need to worry about it opening while in your purse and getting on stuff. The mirror is small but a very nice little touch.

Scent: I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my sense of smell, because I can't describe this scent for the life of me. It just smells like all the other BB creams I've tried. I dunno. There's definitely a particular 'scent' I've noticed for BB creams, and this is no different. It's not very heavy at all, and I actually had to go and smell my tube to make sure there was a scent because I couldn't remember. No worries for those with sensitive smells.

The cream/lip color has a slightly different smell... it reminds me of plastic-y lip glosses from my childhood in the 90's. Not sure how else to describe it. It is a super mild scent, however!

I'm so bad at describing scents.

Swatch: This suits my skin better than any of the other BB creams I've reviewed so far (just wait and see for one that fits even better!!). It's a pale peachy beige with a natural/slightly dewy finish and medium coverage~

That little hair is a kitty hair!

The little cheek/lip tint is a darker pink/orange/peach/coral/whatever color- it's very pigmented, and a bit hard to blend. :/ It works okay as a blush if you use it sparingly and blend it well, but as a lip color it's drying and highlights any dry patches you have.

Results/Coverage: Why oh why has it been discontinued? :( It's really really great for me!! It's medium coverage, and buildable if you apply it thinly. It matches my skintone/neck's skintone quite well, and has such a pretty finish!

Before
Lookin' tired 8)

After
Covers up redness around my nose, my chin, and does a pretty good job around my eyes as well. My skin looks a lot brighter as well~

After - Different Lighting

After- With Cheek + Lip Color
Not sure what I'm looking at.

As stated above, the cheek/lip color isn't amazing. It's good for cheeks, but not for lips. I don't really have much more to say- I have very few complaints about it. Unfortunately, all things must come to an end... including HG BB creams. Consider it a life lesson.

Conclusion: Final Score 5/5 for performance, 0/5 for breaking my heart by being discontinued

Pros
  • perfect shade match for NW15-20
  • natural, slightly dewy finish
  • medium coverage
  • cute + vibrant cheek and lip color
  • basically perfect
Cons
  • discontinued...
  • cheek/lip tint is hard to blend and drying on lips
Bonus Leo the kitty picture.

    1. :( I've found that Missha's Signature Real Complete BB cream in shade 21 is similar to this- slightly lighter but still a great match for me! Maybe you can look into that?

  6. I thought this was such a genius product, especially the mirror! I'd love it if some brand came out with a stackable or interchangeable cap type product where you can pick the BB cream and then the shade of the blush etc, that'd be sick! I think you look gorgeous as usual :)
