Etude House Aloe Moistfull Mask Sheet Review

Etude House's Aloe Moistfull Mask Sheet is surprisingly nice... but there are some potentially serious issues with the ingredients that make me wary of using it again.

Where to buy:
bbcreamboutique.com - $3.99
Yesstyle.com - 5 for $12

I feel like they've probably discontinued this line's sheet masks, since I haven't been able to find them anywhere. :/

Description: Moistfull Aloe Mask Sheet is enriched with Baobab Tree extracts and Organic Aloe, providing refreshing and comforting hydration to dry, irritated face.
Claims:
~ refreshing
~ hydrating
~ soothing

Ingredients: Water, butylene glycol, glycerin, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Alcohol, PEG-5, Cirtus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Carbomer, Potassium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, disodium EDTA, adansonia digitata fruit extract, sophora angustifolia root extract, lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, prunus persica (peach) leaf extract, ginkgo biloba leaf extract, subtellaria baicalensis root extract, fragrance, sodium hayluronate

According to CosDNA- Potassium Hydroxide has a 5/5 for being an irritant. Additionally, PEG/PPG-17/6 copolymer has potential to be harmful to your health when used long-term... so not a mask you want to use often for that reason. :/

Scent: quite a mild scent, kind of reminds me of a lotion? i guess it smells like aloe? still, pretty mild in comparison to MBD and the red ginseng mask before.

Packaging: Nice and aloe-y packaging? I dunno. It's not particularly cute, but it's nice and fits with the theme of the skincare line. The top is easy to tear, and the mask material is the same as others- quite thick and impossible to customize.

Fit: I'm pretty sure that this is a different sheet mask cut than the I need you, X! series. This one fits my face significantly better- I would even go so far as to say it fits... well! That's quite an accomplishment considering how poorly all the others have fit, so hurray! :) The eye part is still weirdly oval-ish and rubs against my eye, but beyond that it definitely fits the best of any of the other masks I've tried.

Results: Despite having a few questionable ingredients, this mask works well! I saw a reduction in redness, in addition to a nicely hydrated and smooth skin. It's not the most moisturizing mask, and I'd say it's somewhere in the 2.5-3 out of 5 on a scale of moisturizing. However, it's still a nice boost of moisture if using it in conjunction with an emulsion and cream.

The serum was light, absorbed quickly, and felt nice on~ Overall it's a great mask in terms of fit and results, but I won't be repurchasing due to some concerns I have about the safety of the ingredients used. :/ Oh well. The search for the best sheet mask continues.

Conclusion: Final Score: 4/5

Pros:
  • mild scent
  • pretty good fit
  • reduced redness a lot
  • moisturizing
Cons:
  • some irritating/potentially harmful ingredients (over long term use!)
  • thick mask material makes it impossible to customize

Good news! This concludes my Etude House mask review series~ On to Baviphat! C:
