Lioele Secret Pore HD Powder Review

Hi! This powder was one of the first Asian beauty products I ever purchased. I'm happy I did, though I won't be repurchasing it. It works well and does everything it claims to, but with a high price and mediocre packaging, I feel like I could probably get a setting powder that works just as well for a lower price.
Where to buy it:
roseroseshop.com - $24
kocomall.com - $22.22
imomoko.com - $31.85
prettyandcute.com - $31.85
lioeletexas.com - $31.85

Description: HD Powder is a unique, extremely fine powder available in one universal shade to make the skin absolutely radiant. It sets the foundation and matifies the skin without changing its natural contours. Consisting of mineral silica powder, its talc-free formula is non-drying. Its universal translucent shade matches all skin tones. The HD Powder can be worn alone or applied over foundation.

Claims:
~ universal shade
~ sets makeup
~ matte-ifys makeup
~ talc-free

Scent: No scent at all! (:

Packaging: Lioele packaging is just so adorable... but can also feel a bit cheap at times. The powder is packaged in a plastic jar-thing. The cute pink top screws on and off fairly easily, revealing a Lioele powder puff thingy. I'm not good with terminology tonight, sorry! The puff itself is of decent quality, I've used it occasionally. It applies the powder a bit unevenly, so I mostly use it to keep powder from going everywhere!

I guess my only real complaint is the fact that it feels a bit cheap, especially for the price. The plastic feels light and kind of flimsy, so you don't feel very special using it despite its cuteness.

Swatch/Results: The powder reminds me of baking powder, but slightly starchier. It's not quite silky, as it's a bit 'squeakier' if that makes sense? It is quite light, and applies nicely. The only thing you have to worry about is applying too much- that makes you look pale/ghostly/whiteish. I'm not sure how well it would work on darker skintones, unfortunately :/ If anyone who has a darker skintone has tried it or a similar product, please let me know as I'm quite curious!

The powder.

I would say that this does a good job of setting my makeup and reducing shine. I don't have much a problem with oiliness though, I usually get a bit of a dewy look naturally due to the moisturizer and sunscreen I use under my BB creams lol. ╰( ´◔ ω ◔ `)╯
I haven't experienced any dryness using this powder, which is more a problem with my skin- it also doesn't highlight dry patches, which is definitely a plus! (: As you can see below, it basically smooths my skin out overall. It helps a little bit with covering pores, but not as much as a good primer would.

Also I still have no idea what face to make when taking pics.

Before
Sorry for the bad pics, I don't know a good place to take pictures where I'm at right now. This is after about 8 hours of wear with Holika Holika Peach Girl BB Cream no 1, there's not much shine but for me, but it's all I had to work with ):

After
I don't know how well you guys can tell, as I applied it fairly lightly. But it gives the makeup an overall 'smoother' finish, reduces shine, makes it look more glowy and less dewy, imo.

Conclusion: Final Score 4/5

Pros
  • cute packaging
  • universal color
  • doesn't highlight dry patches
  • makes my skin look 'glowy'
  • helps cover pores a bit

Cons
  • expensive
  • applying too much can make you look pale
  • might not be good for darker skintones
Bonus pic of our kitty trying to seduce me into petting his tummy (it worked).

  1. I've been extremely curious about the primer from this line as I've heard good things about it. I actually have the samples I bought of it right in front of me haha!

I have to admit I was also unimpressed with the looks of the packaging.

    1. I've tried the primer as well, since I had samples of it before! The primer seemed to work well I thought, but I never really bothered paying too much attention when I wore it.

  2. It's difficult in general to design products which do look pink and girly without looking too cheap. Good to hear that the product works!

  4. you can definitely tell it makes your skin more glowy! I like how it doesn't highlight dry patches, which would be great for my forehead...even though it's super oily (confused forehead!)

  5. Hi Laura, thank you for stopping by my blog :). You have such beautiful eyes! ^^

I always use a setting powder because it makes my face have that "glow." I've never heard of this particular product before but the packaging is adorable :)

  6. Haha, kitty. <3

If you're looking for a powder that's better priced, I really encourage you to check out the 3W Clinic Professional Natural Make Up Powder. The packaging is not cute at all. Lol. It's borderline tacky. However, it generally costs less than $6 and is amazing, in my opinion. I reviewed it ages ago, if you're interested: http://beauty-junkie.net/3w-clinic-professional-natural-make-up-powder-in-21-light-beige/ I'm not sure how much it does for pores, but it has the glowy look down. ;D Especially in photos.

Hope this doesn't sound like a plug. Just had to recommend.

  10. hi thanks for the review :3
I think this powder is really nice ! The package is really cute *-* I think most of korean beauty products are packed cute but the package feel cheap :/ I've always been a bit scared of powder because it can make you look caky but I'm glad this one don't :D Would you recommend this powder for summer when it's really hot?

    1. Hmm, I would yes! Super sorry for the late reply, I must have missed seeing these. I live in Texas during the summer, and while it's not as humid as some countries it still gets a bit uncomfortably... moist. I find it helps a lot :)
