Packaging: I think that Missha's Cho Bo Yang has really good quality packaging and suits the price. It looks a lot more mature and medicinal/herbal-y than a lot of other BB creams. I believe that this line is more for mature skin, and the packaging reflects that. The packaging is so reflective too, haha! You can see my taking pics with my phone in the above pictures :D

The BB Cream is in a thin plastic squeezy tube thing (can't think of a more appropriate way of phrasing it), so it's fairly hygienic. I've never had an issue with accidently squeezing too much, which is nice. If you look below, you can see that there's that little 'locking' mechanism on the sides of the thing (?? whats it called again), so you don't have to worry about the cap becoming unscrewed and covering your makeup bag with expensive BB cream! I have absolutely no complaints about the packaging (:

Super shiny but nice!

You can see a picture of my boyfriend in the background! SUCH A CUTIE PIE

Scent: Super mild scent, I can't actually smell anything even with putting my nose right up against it. Significantly less scented than the Lioele and Skin79 BB cream I've tried.

Swatch: Right out of the tube, the BB cream doesn't suit my skin. It's slightly too dark and yellow, even after being blended in. However, once it's on my face for 20+ minutes, it oxidizes to match my skin absolutely perfectly. It's fantastic and amazing and makes me feel super pretty and cute. The cream itself is very thick and creamy, but on your skin it feels light and non-masky (Lioele's Triple the Solution kind of had a tendancy to feel mask-y after a few hours for me). It blends very easily and smoothly :)

Little dot!

Bleeendddiiinnggg...

Blended?

Results/Coverage: Cho Bo Yang is a medium/full coverage BB cream that you can't really make full. You can't add layers of it without it looking cakey- but honestly the medium/full coverage it does offer is pretty great. It covers up any hyperpigmentation marks, redness, and spots I have really well, as well as just making my skin look brighter and glow-y. It also does a really great job of hiding pores! :D It makes my skin feel very soft and smooth while I have it on, and doesn't highlight dry spots.

It has a matte/semi-matte finish with pretty good oil control. By the end of the day my face is more 'glowy' than oily, but I'm not sure how it would work on ladies with oily skin. I'm sure with some powder it would be fine :D I'm not sure what else there is to say, beyond that I absolutely love it and will continue using it unless the two BB creams I have in the mail are any better.

Before & Afters
Before
You can see my Animal Crossing poster in the back, as well as my Juju Aquamoist Vitamin C emulsion haha

Immediately After
It doesn't quite match my skin (yet!), but soon it will. As you can see, redness near the nose and some spots I have are covered up really well. You can't see in this picture, but it also does a very good job of covering my pores. :)

Before
I don't know what I'm looking at.

Immediately After
Sorry for the dramatic picture, I was trying to show how it didn't quite match my neck (at this point!). Like 20 minutes after I took this pic I checked again and it was perfect C: But yes, you can see that it does a very good job of covering any redness!

Conclusion: Final Score 4.9/5
Pros
  • matches my skintone (NW15-20) beautifully after oxidizing
  • medium-full coverage
  • easy to blend
  • good SPF
  • doesn't highlight dry patches
  • matte/semi-matte finish
  • leaves my skin feeling really soft and smooth
  • basically amazing
Cons
  • kind of expensive, depending on where you buy it
  • can take awhile to fully oxidize

Bonus FOTD pic with Missha's Cho Bo Yang BB cream!

No clue what expression to make yayyy. Ignore my greasy hair and revision clothes.

  1. The lip color on the photos looks really good on you! What is it?

The BB cream looks glamorous! It gives a nice finish ^^

Btw you should try Missha new cream blush (in a bottle can't remember the name) I've heard good things about them and I think there is a coral shade that would look good with your lipstick! (random recommendation lol)

    1. Ooh I'll definitely look into that! Literally the only blush I own is Nars Orgasm, so I've been looking to expand beyond that :D Thanks so much for the recommendation!

As for the lip color, I have a combination of Peripera Peri's Tint Water in red under, and Tony Moly Petit Bunny Gloss Bar in cherry over :D they work well together I think.

  2. Nice! I have a sample of this and wasn't sure if I wanted to try it haha - I think I'll skip out on this as it doesn't look like it'll suit my yellowy skin tone!

  3. I think you look really pretty in the dramatic shot *-* The CYB looks super natural on you. Ah, I should snag a sample for my mom, it seems like it would suit her well too.

  4. It still looks a little rosy in the last shot, and I worry a bit (I have acne) because in the hand swatch it seems to pick up every bump, so on my face it might accentuate my acne. What do you think? Just the photos?

    1. I didn't find that it accentuated any bumps I had on my face, so I'm not sure why it showed up like that in the hand pics haha. Maybe it needed more blending?

I think you can get samples of it! If you do, please let me know what you think! I'm curious to see how it works for others.

  5. Hmm, I think I may have received a sample of this recently but I'm hesitant to open it if it's completely not my skin color. Would you say this is suited more towards the more tan Korean/Asian population? Missha 21 is way too white for me, and Missha 23 is bordering on too light. Would you happen to know how these compare? Thanks!

    1. I just got Missha's perfect cover in a few days ago, and 21 is basically the same lightness as Cho Bo Yang no 1 :/ I'm not sure how much darker no2 is, but no 1 would probably be too light for you ):

    2. hehe hey boo! i opened my satchet of CBY last night and tried it on, and i looooooooooooooove it hahahahaha. it's so funny i googled reviews of this so i could see swatches of #1 and #2 and i found this old entry :) this has to be one of the first i commented on yours lol! <3 it's really pale on me, but it's strange i swear it's more yellow than any other light bb creams i've tried! it doesn't look pink at all to me. we put it on my little sister who has very pink undertones (she's white) and even she said it looked yellow on her. it's so weird cuz it honestly doesn't look at all like the CBY swatches i've seen online! maybe i'll do a review and then buy it :)

      xoxo
