Lioele A.C. Control Spot Patch Review

I bought these on a whim around Christmas time last year (2012), and now I've been using them long enough for me to be comfortable with reviewing them.

Where to buy:
lioeletexas.com - $7.20
keautystore.com - $7.20

Description: Lioele's A.C. Control Trouble Patches help to relieve and care for troubled skin. It contains Salicylic Acid & Tea Tree Oil to help disinfect the area as well as reduce redness and assists with healing. If you feel a pimple arising, place a sticker patch directly onto the area. For best results, place onto the spot directly and leave for 8-12 hours (overnight while sleeping) then remove and continue with regular skin care routine. (from prettyandcute.com)

Korean instructions~ It says to apply for 8-12 hours, but as you will see, that might not be enough!

Ingredients: Acrylates Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Water, Alcohol Denat., Salicylic Acid, Water/Butylene Glycol, Alcohol Denat., / Vitis Vinifefa (Grape) Seed Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Polysorbate 80, Allantoin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phytosphingosine

Packaging: Nice enough. The container is just a semi-matte silver and hot pink box that is of decent quality. Nothing special, really. The little individual packets are just as adequete! You rip them open and then figure out how to get the transparent plastic sheet that has the little spot patches on it.

Already been opened, sorry! I was on my last one.

Scent: None that I noticed!

Swatch(??): As you can see, they're small and clear. I will admit that more than once I've gone outside without noticing I had them on until a few hours later when I notice it catching the light.

Results: Okay. So, the first 20 or so I used I was unimpressed. I was leaving them on for the recommended 8-12 hours, and while they helped with the swelling and irritation, it wasn't 'drawing out' the white stuff (gross right lol). It took me forgetting I had it on while spending over 24 hours in my room (in my pajamas, never going outside) to realize that for me, I had to leave them on for almost double the recommended time. But after 24 hours of keeping them on, they do a very good job of drawing the white pus out and helping clam down and heal the pimple.

They work especially well if you put them on as soon as you feel a pimple coming on! If you do that, then they'll generally calm the area and keep it from swelling and being painful. If you put one on that's not quite ready but hurts a lot, the patches are good at keeping you from picking at them or irritating them, which is also quite nice :)

My only real complaint is that I personally have to leave them on for basically a whole day for them to be as effective as possible. That means that I can't really go outside and do stuff if I want to completely get rid of the pimple, but since I'm really lame and spend a lot of time inside, it's not a huge problem.

I haven't tried any other acne patches, but I'm very happy with these so far. I'll probably be repurchasing them the next time I order from Lioele Texas or Pretty & Cute!

Conclusion: Final Score 4.4/5
Pros:
  • work well
  • fairly inconspicuous
  • thin and comfortable

Cons:
  • kind of hard to find (only three places I can think of besides ebay)
  • can take a long time to draw out the white stuff

  1. Oh wow! I've been wondering about these sooo much. Would you mind posting a picture of one some time when you actually have a spot? I saw these on eBay but I wanted to know if you could actually wear these out or cover them up or something! Just wondering...

I do want to try them though. =) I'm assuming it's good for you too because you can't keep picking at it with bacteria on your fingers etc.

    1. Yes! I definitely can do that. :) I had a couple of pics awhile ago but then I think I accidently deleted them. But next time I get one I'll be sure to track its progress, haha.

Anndd, I am actually not sure if you could wear makeup over them. They do catch the light, so I mean you can notice them in that way, but if you have them in a place that is covered my hair then there's no way to tell they're on.

    2. this is a very late comment, so probably no one will read it but... ;)
I love this patches to the point when I'm in panic when they start to run out... BUT the only downside of them is that make-up doesn't work with them at all. Nothing stays on the top of patch and makeup tends to sit on the "border" between bare skin and patch, so there is very visible circle created :/ I use them at night only.
