Etude House I need you, Green Tea! Mask Review

Despite its impressive claims about metaphysical comfort, this mask doesn't do much beyond moisturize. It does a good job of moisturizing, but I'm not sure how useful this mask is beyond that. As with all of the masks in Etude House's I need you, X! line, their fit and mask material are terrible.

Where to buy:

roseroseshop.com 3 masks - $2.40

Description: Etude House Green Tea Mask contains green tea extracts that soothes and comforts stressed and fatigued skin. Has a tension fit design for improved facial adhesion and comfort. If you or your skin needs a break, lay back and let this mask do its work on you. It’s not only relaxing for the skin but for the body and soul. (from prettyandcute.com)

How's that for selling a product?

Claims:
 Soothes Skin
 Soothes body and soul (???)
 Comforts Stressed Skin
 Relaxing
 Nutritional for the Skin

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Citrus paradise (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, alcohol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethiconol, AcrylatesC10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Squalane, Rosmarinus Officinalis (rosemary) Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Thymus vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, Pelargonium Graveolens Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract

Scent: This mask has a faint green tea scent, and is one of the least scented of all the sheet masks that I've tried so far. I find the scent more invigorating than relaxing, but it's a very nice to me. It reminds me of some L'Occitane product I've used before... probably one of their green tea products lol. Given that it's quite a mild scent, I believe that those sensitive to smells wouldn't mind this scent as much.

Packaging: As with the other Etude House I need you, X! masks, the plastic pouch thing that holds the sheet mask is very cutely designed and easy to tear open. The sheet mask itself is made with thicker cotton, making unfolding it stress-free. Again, this also means that you cannot customize the fit as easily.

Fit: I'm copying + pasting what I wrote in the some of my other Etude House reviews- this one is absolutely no different.

"Suuuuucks. It was irritating to have on due to the placement of the holes- the eye holes in particular were right near my eyes at times, which slightly rubbed against it, irritating it. The mask is also too long and too wide, so I have to fold it over. However, due to the thickness of the material, the mask doesn't 'hold' the fold well... which basically makes it pointless. Anyway, the fit is terrible for me and I'm looking forward to using up the rest of my Etude House masks a little bit less because of it. It kind of screws up the whole pampering experience whenever your eyes are poked by the mask."

Results: This is one of those masks that has quite a watery serum- it dripped all over me the first 10 minutes I had it on. Irritating. Moving on, this mask doesn't claim to do anything beyond moisturize and relax, so I guess I'll judge it based on those criteria.

It is quite moisturizing, but nothing absolutely incredible. The serum fully soaks in in less than 5 minutes, leaving my skin smooth and hydrated. I did find it fairly relaxing due to the mild scent and the general feel of the serum, despite its watery-ness. I'm not quite sure how soothed my soul was, but YMMV...

Conclusion: Final Score: 3.5/5

Pros:
  • nice invigorating but mild scent
  • easy to open packaging
  • might sooth the soul?
Cons:
  • alcohol is fairly high up in the ingredient list
  • teeerrrible fit
  • watery serum, prone to drippage

  1. I don't like it when the serum on masks are too watery too. It ends up running down my neck when I'm trying to lay back and relax.

  2. That is weird.. for me it didn't drip at all and it wasn't moisturizing at all :P It is made for oily skin. I've used a lot of different masks from Etude and none of them was dripping the essence.

    1. Really? It says it's moisturizing on all the websites I looked at, no mention of oily skin really :o I only have issues with dripping whenever the serum is watery, which it was with this one and the Red Ginseng mask! :D

    2. Maybe they changed it :< But it was advertised for oily skin when I got them a few months ago.

    3. That's so weird! Oh well. I think the lemon one is supposed to be like AHA + sebum controlling! have you tried that one? :o
