Packaging: Surprisingly nice! It has a good quality feel to it, and the holographic label thing is really quite pretty. The plastic container has a heavy feel to it which adds to the 'quality' feeling. The pump works well and dispenses a good amount of product. No complaints whatsoever. Hygienic and high quality (:

Scent: None that I noticed.

Swatch: Accidently pumped too much!! My mistake :0 The cream itself is a nice consistency, not too heavy but not too runny. As you can see, it does not quite match the color of my skin- too grey for me... this holds true when it's applied to my face, as well.

Results/Coverage: Okay. So. First- it doesn't really match my skin. Second- it is so greasy. I don't even have oily skin and it made me look like a shiny mess without powder! I don't think you should neccessarily have to apply powder to a BB cream, so that was definitely not okay. Anyway, on to coverage-

Before

Obvious hyperpigmentation on my left cheek (in the past couple of weeks this these have faded a lot, thanks to the vitamin C emulsion and cream I've been using!! hurray!)

After

Immediately After. The greasiness isn't immediately obvious... but just wait. The coverage is decent- I'd say somewhere between light and medium. It covers up discoloration around my nose and chin, but doesn't do a very good job of completely covering up my hyperpigmentation. ):

Before
Left side before. For some reason, this side of my face is just a lot less prone to blemishes. I'm not sure why.

After
Immediately After-  adequate.

And now for the grease...

Natural Lighting, 5 minutes after application. Just... ugh. It's too grey, it's too shiny, and it feels gross because of the greasiness. My face looks like a completely different shade from my neck :/ And touching my face was kind of disgusting without powdering it. Overall it was just really disappointing, especially after hearing a lot of great stuff about it.

Bonus decent indoor lighting picture. You can see a bit of the shine on my forehead and nose. :/

Conclusion: Final Score 2.5/5
Pros:
  • Nice Texture
  • Nice Packaging

Cons:
  • Too grey for me even after 10 minutes (NW20)
  • Greasy on my normal skin, so probably even worse on oily skin
  • Not enough coverage for me
  • Feels gross on
Overall I'm just quite disappointed. I'm sure it works for some people, but for me it was a big letdown. Oh well!

  1. I really liked this BB cream, I've used a whole bottle of it. My skin is normal with oily T-zone and it did get a bit shiny after a few hours but nothing too oily!

  2. I love Skin79's BB Creams, I've got oily skin too and it works good on me. But my favourite at the moment is the Vital Orange (I will post a review in my blog in less than 12 hours). My sister, at first, thought that it was a bit greasy, but this was because she used too much product. Just a thin layer works great on me, and the Vital Orange has way more coverage than this one :)

    1. I see, I've not tried the Vital Orange one! I might see if that's better, I have heard good things about that one as well :) How do you usually apply it? With hands or a brush?

  3. Oh wow, I have this and I've never gotten this oily from it! It's a shame it didn't work out. I use as little as possible and blend with a sponge or my fingers.

  4. I can see what you mean about this BB cream being too grey, the shine is really intense too! I still want to try this product though to see if this works for me - my skin is pretty oily though :/ xox

    1. Maybe you can get one of those value packs that has like 5 different mini skin79 bb creams in them? that way you could test them all out without having to buy a full size one!

  5. I thought the same thing when I applied it on my face for the first time this morning. I was really excited after a number of really good reviews on how this particular BB cream was good for individuals with oily skin. The moment I pumped a bit out, I thought " it looks a bit gray"...but then I applied it anyway. I don't know if I pumped too much but it turned out cakey looking on me. In addition, I was an oily mess almost immediately. So definitely not what I had expected. I'm going to reduce the amount the next time I wear it to see if it makes a difference. But I have to agree with you, it might be a great product for others but I'm not feeling this one.

    1. Ahh yea, thats unfortunate that it didnt work for us ): especially because its so popular for a lot of other people. i hope you can find a way to make it work!

  6. Are you sure yours wasn't a fake? The one I used automatically began to adjust to my skin tone. When applied, it starts gray but quickly adjusts after ten or so minutes. I also found it very buildable. I would apply a slightly thicker layer to my problem areas or where there was red, let it set for a few minutes and than blend in another layer onto the rest of my skin. And of course, put some on my neck. Lol.

    2. Actually I'm not sure. I believe I ordered it from cosmetic-love.coM? I bought it when I was just getting started with Asian Cosmetics, so I didn't know what was good and what was bad. u_u

  7. I own this bb cream too and my skin is oily but it wasn't shining at all. only after about 6 hours it started to shine a bit but nothing dramatic :o it's really weird. maybe the gold version is a better fit for you

  8. This is so so weird!! This is my favorite bb cream (I use it with the orange vital) and I've been using it for almost 3 years and I've never had this issue. The only things I can think of that would have made it so grey and slick were that A.) you used a bit too much (a little really goes a long way, I usually just use 1-1 1/2 pumps for my whole face!!) or B.) you got a fake!!! :( If you google 'skin79 fakes', there's many tips on how to detect a fake. Even if you bought it from a reputable seller, sometimes the fakes are so convincing they get mixed in with the real ones. xoxo

    1. I am considering this as a possibility. I might try and buy samples from a more reputable source, as this was one of the first things I purchased when getting into Asian beauty products.

  9. Hey! I just saw that a lot of ingrediances are suspected to cause cancer! Not only in Skin 79 products.

  10. I was about to buy this too because it looks so cheap on ebay.
